Humanizing Research Methods with Students
Thursday, May 4, 2023 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am
FreeIn this session, we will discuss strategies for maximizing student involvement in collaborative research projects, drawing on our experience working with diverse populations including refugees, documented and undocumented immigrants, and people with disabilities. We will discuss how to involve students in research like this by drawing on students’ strengths and supporting their learning, as well as how to address the inevitable tensions that arise.
Dr. Shana Haines, CTL Faculty Associate and Associate Professor, College of Education and Social Services, will facilitate this discussion. Dr. Cynthia Reyes, Associate Dean for Academic and Faculty Affairs for the College of Education and Social Services will also be part of the conversation. Dr. Haines and Dr. Reyes are both co-authors of the book:
Humanizing Methodologies in Educational Research: Centering Non-Dominant Communities (Reyes, Haines, & Clark/Keefe, 2020). The session will reference elements of this recent publication.
