Reimagining Testing When Teaching Remotely (Registration Closed)

Wednesday, March 25, 2020 @ 9:30 am - 10:30 am

Free
As our teaching moves to remote instruction, faculty who had planned to give exams are faced with a number of questions. Should they keep the exam format the same, and if so, how will they promote academic integrity and access to accommodations? Should they switch to open-book or untimed exams, and if so, is there time to recreate material and will the change create too much stress for students? Should they change the exam to some other kind of assignment, and if so, what? The purpose of this workshop is to provide an opportunity to discuss some of the options that faculty have for reimagining their tests, and to consider both the opportunities and limits of technology for helping faculty achieve their testing goals. Participants will also gain an understanding of which upcoming CTL and WID programming will support them with the implementation of their chosen approach.
This workshop will be held virtually! Please be prepared to participate on a device with a video camera and microphone from a quiet space.

In preparation for the session, please:
1) Download and Install Teams

2) Identify your top 2-3 learning objectives for your course. Brainstorm 3 potential assessments that you could use to measure student achievement of those outcomes. Be prepared to discuss your thoughts with colleagues during the session.

Facilitated by Annie Murray-Close, Jen Garrett-Ostermiller, and Susanmarie Harrington.
